The Plot Form

Purpose: Exploring Numerical Data in Graphical Form.

Terminology:

• Property (thermophysical property shown on the Y axis)
• Display Variable (state variable shown on the X axis)
• Background Variable (state variable not shown on the X axis for multivariable states)

Plot form types:

• Data as a function of 1 variable (e.g., vapor pressures or densities at saturation pressure)
• Data as a function of 2 or more variables (e.g., densities or viscosities for a single phase)
• Singular properties (no state variables) (e.g., critical properties of pure compounds)
• Pure-compound consistency plots (e.g., vapor pressures or saturated-phase densities)
