Liquid-Liquid Equilibria (LLE): Property Name & Phase Formats

The example shows LLE data of various types for (ethylbenzene + water). Property Names are written out explicitly for Phase boundary pressure and Mole fraction (i.e., composition).

LLE (in the figure) indicates the general type of phase equilibrium data displayed. Property Phases are listed below the property name and are interpreted as follows:

Property: Mole fraction of ethylbenzene

  • (L1) L1 L2 (T, P): The mole fraction of ethylbenzene (component 1) present in liquid phase #1 (L1) that is in equilibrium with liquid phase (L2), expressed as a function of temperature T and pressure P.
  • (L2) L1 L2 (T, P): The mole fraction of ethylbenzene (component 1) present in liquid phase #2 (L2) that is in equilibrium with liquid phase #2 (L2), expressed as a function of temperature T and pressure P.
