"Welcome Back" message from

Physical and Chemical Properties Division

Dr. William M. Haynes, Chief

We are pleased that the Thermodynamics Research Center (TRC) has returned to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) after having started in 1942 at what was then the National Bureau of Standards and after having been located at the Carnegie Institute of Technology and Texas A&M University since 1955.

We are enthusiastically facing the challenge of integrating NIST-TRC activities with other data programs at NIST and of providing the U.S. chemical industry with a program that will satisfy its ever-changing and more demanding data needs.

The NIST Thermodynamics Research Center will continue to serve the chemical and related industries.  Its value to industry will be enhanced by combining its resources with the existing experimental, theoretical, and database capabilities of the Physical and Chemical Properties Division at NIST.
