ABSTRACT
This paper reports liquid-liquid equilibria (LLE) data for the ternary system based on hexane, benzene, and 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium methylsulfate ([bmim]CH3SO4) at T = (298.2, 313.2, and 328.2) K and atmospheric pressure. The degree of consistency of the experimental LLE data was ascertained by applying the Othmer-Tobias correlation. For the extractive effectiveness of the ionic liquid [bmim]CH3SO4, the distribution ratio and separation factor curves were plotted and compared with those of sulfolane. In addition, the LLE data were successfully correlated with thermodynamic models such as UNIQUAC and NRTL.
