ABSTRACT
The solubilities of pravastatin sodium in water, methanol, ethanol, 2-propanol, 1-propanol, and 1-butanol from (278 to 333) K were measured. A laser monitoring observation technique was used to determine the dissolution of the solid phase in the solid + liquid mixture. The experimental data were correlated with a semiempirical equation. The solubilities in the six solvents decrease in the following order: water greater than methanol greater than ethanol greater than 1-propanol greater than 1-butanol greater than 2-propanol.
