ABSTRACT
The surface tensions of binary mixtures of difluoromethane (R-32) + 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane (R-134a) and pure difluoromethane (R-32) were measured over the temperature range (253 to 333) K using a differential capillary rise method (DCRM) under vapor-liquid equilibrium conditions. The temperature and surface tension uncertainties were estimated to be within 110 mK and 10.15 mN7m-1, respectively. The present data were used to develop a van der Waals-type surface tension correlation for pure R-32. Correlations for pure R-32 and R-134a were used to develop a surface tension correlation for the experimental data of the R-32 + R-134a mixtures as a function of the mass fraction.
