Surface Tension of dl-Menthol:Octanoic Acid Eutectic Mixtures

ABSTRACT
Despite being known since the early 2000s, it was not until recent years that deep eutectic solvents (DES) and eutectic mixtures began being systematically studied, as a cheaper and environmentally alternative solvents. The introduction of hydrophobic, all-natural, neutral eutectic mixture affords new applications, which need accurate thermophysical properties measurements. In this work, the surface tension of DL-menthol:octanoic acid (MC8) eutectic mixture was studied in the whole range of composition, from 298.15 K to 333.15 K. The role of composition and water on the surface tension is accessed and discussed. Densities and viscosities were also measured from 293.15K to 353.15K at atmospheric pressure.
