ABSTRACT
Blends of amines with alkoxyethanols have potential use as alternative absorbents to the conventional aqueous amines for energy-efficient CO2 capture, due to lower specific heat capacity and enthalpy of vaporization of organic solvents than water. In this work, densities and viscosities were measured at atmospheric pressure for binary liquid mixtures of 2- (methylamino)ethanol (MAE)+2-methoxyethanol (EGME), MAE+2-ethoxyethanol (EGEE) and MAE+2-butoxyethanol (EGBE) over the entire composition range and at temperatures of (293.15 - 353.15) K. The excess molar volume and viscosity deviations were also calculated and fitted by Redlich-Kister equation. The calculated values of density and viscosity from the proposed correlations are in good agreement with the experimental values, with AARDs within 0.06% and 1.23% for density and viscosity respectively. The variations of excess or deviation properties with temperature and components were also discussed in terms of intermolecular interactions and structural effects.
