ABSTRACT
Abstract: The solubility of 2-oxindole in twelve pure organic solvents including acetonitrile (MeCN), dichloromethane (DCM), 1,4-dioxane, ethyl acetate (EtOAc), acetone, toluene, methanol, ethanol, 2-propanol, tetrahydrofuran (THF), 1-butanol and 1-propanol, were experimentally measured from (283.15 to 358.15) K at normal pressure p = 0.1 MPa by employing the synthetic method. The measured solubilities of 2-oxindole in these pure organic solvents were found increasing with the rise of temperature. The experimental solubilities of 2-oxindole were correlated with several thermodynamic models including modified Apelblat equation, h (Buchowski) equation, Wilson equation and NRTL equation. These data could be applied for the large-scale synthesis of 2-oxindole with high purity.
