ABSTRACT
Solubilities, densities and refractive indices of the ternary system (LiCl + CaCl2 + H2O) at 273.15 K were determined using the isothermal dissolution equilibrium method. The phase diagram and the diagrams of refractive indices and densities for this ternary system were plotted. The phase diagram consists of three invariant points, four univariant solubility curves and four crystallization areas corresponding to LiCl*2H2O, LiCl*CaCl2*5H2O, CaCl2*4H2O and CaCl2*6H2O. On the basis of Pitzer model, the Pitzer mixing parameters and the solubility product constants (Ksp) of LiCl*2H2O, LiCl*CaCl2*5H2O, CaCl2*4H2O and CaCl2*6H2O were obtained. Then, the solubilities of this ternary system were calculated. A comparison shows that the calculated solubilities agree well with the experimental results.
