ABSTRACT
Experimental solubility data of 2,6-dihydroxybenzoic acid (2,6-DHBA) in methanol, ethanol, 2-propanol, 1-butanol and three binary solvents system (methanol + water, ethanol + water and 2-propanol + water) from ( 278.15 to 318.15 ) K were measured by gravimetric method while those in water were measured by UV spectrophotometric method. The experimental results indicated that the solubility of 2,6-DHBA in those solvents increased with the increase of temperature. Solubility of 2,6-DHBA in different pure solvents accorded with the following order: water less than 1-butanol less than methanol less than ethanol less than 2-propanol. In the binary solvents system, the solubility decreased with the increase of the mole ratio of water. The experimental solubility data were correlated by the modified Apelblat equation. The (NIBS)/Redlich-Kister model was introduced to correlate the solubility in the binary solvents system.
