The Solubility of Hydrogen Sulfide and Carbon Dioxide in Propylene Carbonate

ABSTRACT
The solubility of hydrogen sulfide in propylene carbonate was measured at the temperatures (248.15, 273.15, 298.15, 333.15 and 373.15) K at pressures between 0.1 MPa and 4.8 MPa. The data were correlated with the Peng Robinson equation of state. A linear temperature dependent binary interaction parameter reproduced the experimental data to within 2.4 %. Henry s law constants of hydrogen sulfide in propylene carbonate were determined at each temperature with a combination of the Krichevsky Ilinskaya equation and the Peng Robinson equation of state. The results were compared with the existing literature data for this system. The same modeling approach was used to correlate the solubility of carbon dioxide in propylene carbonate using data available in the open literature. This approach correlated all of the solubility data to within 9.4 %. The Henry s law constants of carbon dioxide in propylene carbonate were predicted to within 6.9 %.
