Static Permittivity and Refractive Index of Binary Mixtures of 3-Bromoanisole and 1-Propanol at Different Temperatures

ABSTRACT
Static permittivity (e0m) and permittivity at optical frequency (e8m) of the binary mixtures of 3-bromoanisole (3-BA) and 1-propanol (1-PrOH) at different concentrations were measured at four different temperatures (303.15 K, 313.15 K, 323.15 K, and 333.15 K). The static permittivity (e0m) was measured by using precision LCR meter at 2 MHz frequency. The permittivity at optical frequency (e8m) was taken as square of refractive index, which was measured using Abbe s refractometer. The excess dielectric parameters, Kirkwood correlation factors, and Bruggeman factor were evaluated. The excess parameters were fitted to the Redlich Kister equation. The Kirkwood effective correlation factor of 3-BA is smaller than that of 1-PrOH at all temperatures. The Bruggeman plot shows a deviation from linearity. The determined parameters have been interpreted in terms of molecular interaction between the molecular species of the binary mixtures.
