Heat capacities of several Co2 YZ Heusler compounds

ABSTRACT
Heat contents of several Co2-based Heusler compounds Co2 YZ (Y=Fe, Mn, Ti; Z=Al, Ga, Si, Ge, Sn) were measured from 500 K to 1500 K using a Setaram MTHC 96 drop calorimeter. Second order polynomials were adopted to fit the data and heat capacities were obtained by taking the derivatives with respect to temperature. Melting points were determined by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and measured heats of fusion were compared with those obtained from extrapolation of heat contents.
