Effect of ionic liquid, 1-hexyl-3-methylimidazolium bromide on the volumetric, acoustic and viscometric behavior of aqueous sucrose solutions at different temperatures

ABSTRACT
In this work, influence of the ionic liquid, 1-hexyl-3-methylimidazolium bromide [HMIm]Br, on the thermodynamic properties of aqueous sucrose solutions has been investigated. For this purpose, density, speed of sound and viscosity measurements have been carried out for this system at temperatures T = (288.15 to 318.15) K and atmospheric pressure. Thermophysical parameters including the standard partial molar volume, transfer volume of sucrose from water to aqueous ionic liquid solutions, partial molar isentropic compressibility and viscosity B-coefficient have been calculated using the measured experimental data. From the obtained parameters, some information in regard with the solute solvent interactions in the studied systems was obtained. The cosphere overlap model was used to interpret the positive transfer volume. The scaled particle theory has been used to confirm the obtained results.
