ABSTRACT
Apparent molar volumes V and apparent molar heat capacities Cp, were determined for aqueous solutions of D(+)-cellobiose, D(+)-maltose, and sucrose at temperatures from 278.15 K to 393.15 K and at the pressure 0.35 MPa. The molalities of solutions investigated ranged from 0.03 mol*kg-1 to 0.31 mol*kg-1 for cellobiose, 0.03 mol*kg-1 to 0.55 mol*kg-1 for maltose, and 0.01 mol*kg-1 to 4.00 mol*kg-1 for sucrose. A vibrating tube densimeter was used to obtain densities of solutions in order to determine volumetric properties. Heat capacities were obtained directly using a twin fixed cell, power compensation, differential output, temperature scanning calorimeter. Values of V and Cp, for the disaccharides are discussed relative to those of the component monosaccharides, where those data are available.
