Isobaric vapor-liquid equilibrium for ternary mixtures of acetone + methanol + ionic liquids at 101.3kPa

ABSTRACT
In order to avoid the pollution and corrosion of inorganic anion, three organic anion ionic liquids (1-methylimidazole acetate [MIM]Ac, 1-methylimidazole lactate [MIM]LAc and 1-methylimidazole propionate [MIM]Pc) were studied as entrainers to separate the acetone + methanol azeotropic mixture. Isobaric vapor-liquid equilibrium (VLE) data for the ternary system containing ILs were measured at 101.3 kPa using an all-glass dynamic recirculating still. The experimental data were correlated using the nonrandom two-liquid (NRTL) model and fitted in well with it. The separation ability of the three ILs in this article follows the order: [MIM]Ac greater than [MIM]LAc greater than [MIM]Pc.
