Carbon dioxide (CO2) solubility was measured in aqueous solutions containing 0.6 wt% D(+)-galacturonic acid (GalH) or sodium D(+)-galacturonate (GalNa) by use of a recirculating apparatus at 313.4 K and at pressures up to 9.29 MPa. The solubilities of CO2 in the two solutions containing GalH or GalNa were similar to those in pure water. The experimental data were correlated with Peng-Robinson-Stryjek-Vera (PRSV) equation of state. A new method was developed to estimate pH by use of the molar volume from the PRSV equation and compared with measured pH values. It gives some idea of the quantitative agreement between the equation of states and the measured pH values over the same range of conditions.
