SLE and LLE for tri-butylphosphate or tri-octylamine contained systems; extractive solvents of Molybdenum

ABSTRACT
Phase equilibriums were studied with related extractive solvents of Molybdenum (Mo). Tri-butylphosphate, tri-octylamine and heavy alcohols are used in the extraction of Mo from the acidic media of Mo roasted ore, as a selective solvent or modifier. Solid liquid equilibrium (SLE) between these solvents and modifiers were determined by a visual technique. The combination of solvent and modifier were binary systems of tri-butylphosphate + 1-octanol, tri-butylphosphate + 1-decanol and 1-octanol + 1-decanol. They have a single eutectic point. Non-random two liquid (NRTL) and universal quasi chemical (UNIQUAC) models were used for the description of the determined SLE data. The extraction process of Mo usually progressed with solvents in the kerosene diluents. In order to analyze solvent capability, liquid liquid equilibrium (LLE) for the ternary systems 1-decane + tri-butylphosphate + water and 1-decane + tri-octylamine + water were determined because 1-decane is usually considered as a model compound of kerosene. The measured ternary LLE data were correlated well with NRTL and UNIQUAC model.
