Thermodynamics of Ketone + Amine Mixtures. Part III. Volumetric and Speed of Sound Data at (293.15, 298.15, and 303.15) K for 2-Butanone + Aniline, + N-Methylaniline, or + Pyridine Systems
Densities, ?, and speeds of sound, u, of 2-butanone + aniline, + N-methylaniline, or + pyridine systems have been measured at (293.15, 298.15, and 303.15) K and atmospheric pressure using a vibrating-tube densimeter and sound analyzer (Anton Paar model DSA-5000). The ? and u values were used to calculate excess molar volumes, VE, and the excess functions at 298.15 K for the speed of sound, uE, the thermal expansion coefficient, aPE, and the isentropic compressibility, ?SE. VE and ?SE are both negative magnitudes and increase in the sequence: aniline less than N-methylaniline less than pyridine. In contrast, uE is positive and changes in the opposite way. Data suggest the existence of strong interactions between unlike molecules.
